Kruger National Park: 4-Day Glamping Budget Safari

Johannesburg

Activity Description

Full Description

Embark on an unforgettable 4-day safari adventure through the heart of South Africa’s wildlife country, combining comfortable lodge accommodation, authentic bush camping, and exceptional wildlife encounters in one of Africa’s most renowned safari destinations.

Your journey begins with a scheduled pickup from O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg at 09:00. After meeting your guide and fellow travellers, travel through the scenic landscapes of Mpumalanga Province towards the Greater Kruger region. Along the way, enjoy views of rural villages, rolling mountains, indigenous forests, and citrus farms before arriving at Kruger Island Resort, situated on the shores of Da Gama Dam near Hazyview.

Upon arrival, guests can relax and unwind after the journey, enjoying the tranquil surroundings of the resort and the beautiful lake views. Dinner is served at the resort, providing the perfect opportunity to prepare for the exciting safari experience ahead. The first night is spent in comfortable accommodation at Kruger Island Resort.

After breakfast on the second morning, guests depart for the safari portion of the tour. Depending on weather conditions, availability, and wildlife movements, accommodation will be provided either inside Kruger National Park or within the neighbouring Manyeleti Game Reserve. Both destinations offer exceptional wildlife viewing opportunities and place guests in the heart of the African bushveld.

For the next two nights, guests stay in comfortable safari-style tented accommodation. These camps provide an authentic wilderness experience while maintaining essential comforts, including proper beds, bedding, linen, lighting, and shared camp facilities. Falling asleep to the sounds of the African bush and waking up surrounded by nature is one of the highlights of this safari.

Each day is dedicated to exploring the wilderness in open safari vehicles accompanied by experienced and qualified guides. Early morning departures maximize opportunities to encounter wildlife when animals are most active. Guests may encounter Africa’s famous Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo — as well as cheetah, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hyena, hippo, crocodile, numerous antelope species, and an incredible diversity of birdlife.

The safari experience is not only about wildlife sightings but also about understanding the ecosystem, animal behaviour, conservation efforts, and the unique landscapes that make the Greater Kruger region one of the world’s premier safari destinations. Guides share their extensive knowledge throughout the journey, enriching every game drive.

Breakfast and dinner are included during the safari portion of the tour. Meals are prepared in a relaxed bushveld setting, allowing guests to enjoy the atmosphere of the African wilderness while sharing stories of the day’s wildlife encounters. Lunches can be purchased at designated rest camps or safari facilities during the day.

Evenings are spent around the camp enjoying the sights and sounds of the bush, watching spectacular African sunsets, stargazing under clear night skies, and listening for nocturnal wildlife activity in the surrounding area.

On the final morning, guests enjoy one last safari experience before breakfast and check-out. Thereafter, the return journey begins through Mpumalanga back towards Johannesburg. Guests are transferred directly to O.R. Tambo International Airport, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening, depending on traffic and road conditions.

This safari is ideal for travellers seeking an authentic Kruger experience at an affordable price while still enjoying comfortable accommodation, professional guiding, quality wildlife viewing, and the adventure of spending multiple nights in the African wilderness. The tour offers an excellent balance between comfort, value, and immersive safari experiences, making it suitable for solo travellers, couples, families with older children, students, and small groups looking to experience the magic of Kruger National Park and the Greater Kruger ecosystem.
